The First Lead
Leo arrives at the pawnshop after a worried call from a regular customer goes unanswered. He finds the front door unlocked, lights on, but the shop silent and his aunt gone. A half-finished transaction sits on the counter next to an open strongbox drawer. In the back office Leo finds the hidden ledger his aunt always kept locked. Inside, he reads a seven-day countdown written in her hand next to a list of sealed items, the final entry circled: one last lockbox due to be claimed by a collector named Victor Kang. Leo follows the most recent pawn entry from the ticket he took: a small jade seal pawned three days ago by an elderly man who gave a false address. The lead takes him to a closed sewing shop two blocks away where the man sometimes worked.
